Motor Werks 38th Year
The Motor Werks name has been a dominant part of luxury automobile retailing for nearly 40 years. The company began with the Mercedes-Benz and BMW franchises in 1971 located in downtown Barrington, present home of Motor Werks Cadillac and Saab.
Motor Werks partners Paul Tamraz and Jim Hub have grown their enterprise to rank number 74 among Crain's Chicago Business Top 100 Privately Owned Companies in Chicagoland. 2007 gross revenues topped $500-million, with nearly 7,000 new and certified pre-owned vehicles delivered to individual retail customers. The company employs 401 staff members at four locations.
Motor Werks indoor mall opened in 1987 as one of the first such concepts of its kind. Today that 30-acre facility serves Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Porsche, Infiniti and Honda sales and service customers.
In October 2003, Motor Werks' second Mercedes facility, Mercedes-Benz of Hoffman Estates, opened at 1000 W. Golf Road., near Higgins Rd., three miles west of Woodfield Mall. The area is renowned as the retail automotive epicenter of the Midwest. Also on Golf Road in Hoffman Estates, Motor Werks was awarded a second Infiniti franchise which opened in 2006 as the first I-Ready Infiniti concept store in the country. 18 years earlier, Motor Werks Infiniti in Barrington was named the first suburban Chicagoland retailer for the debut of the Infiniti luxury division of Nissan.
With nine franchises, Motor Werks frequently heads the list of Illinois franchised automobile dealers in total number of new car registrations in the State. Over 80,000 service aisle transactions are completed each year. Not surprisingly, more than two thirds of the company's clientele are repeat customers. Among 2008 honors, Motor Werks Honda was named #1 in Customer Satisfaction among all Honda franchises in the U.S.
Mr. Tamraz and Mr. Hub have extensive backgrounds in marketing and accounting, and each has more than 35 years of automotive sales, finance and management expertise in the Chicagoland area.
